Getting started: the welcome tour and tips
What you see the first time you use Solid Vibes: the welcome screen and the 5-minute intro video, a short tour of Home and the editor, and small tips the first time you meet a tool. How to watch the video again, replay the tour or turn tips off.
The first time you use Solid Vibes, it shows you around in three small steps. Nothing is required: you can skip each of them, and bring them back later.
1. The welcome screen and the intro video
Before the two onboarding questions you see Welcome to the Solid Vibes beta: what Solid Vibes does (describe a part, see it in 3D, tweak it, then print it or export it), a short note about the beta, and what your trial includes.
- Watch the 5-minute intro (recommended) plays a short video right on the page. It shows the whole loop, from the first sentence to a file for your printer. Continue is there the whole time, so you can stop whenever you like.
- Skip for now goes straight to the questions. You can watch the video later.
It is a beta: a few features show a Coming soon pill (see Coming soon in the beta), and things may change. Your feedback shapes what we build next, and each message you send with Beta · Feedback earns you AI credits (see Sending feedback to the team).
Watch the video again at any time: open your profile menu (your picture at the top right), then Help & support, then Watch the intro video. It is in ⌘K too: type intro video. Or watch it now.
2. A short tour of Home and the editor
On Home, three pointers show you where to start: Describe what you want to make in the prompt box, or start from a template, or go straight into the editor. That last one is Pro mode: blank workspace at the top right, for when you'd rather draw it yourself with Sketch and the other CAD tools. If you told us you make things for fun, one more points at Explore ideas first, for when you are not sure yet how it should look.
The first time you open a Thing, a tour of about six steps (around 40 seconds) points at the real controls. The rest of the screen dims a little while it does. Use Next and Back, or the arrow keys; Skip or Esc closes it.
- The prompt bar. Type, or hold Space to talk. The agent changes your model step by step.
- The tool rail on the left: Sketch · Solid · Modify · Connect · Inspect. If you prefer doing it yourself, the classic CAD tools are here (sketch, extrude, fillet, holes, patterns), and every tool works with the agent. If you never opened the rail, the tour shows it and leaves it there. If you hid it yourself, it goes away again after this step.
- Nothing changes until you accept. A change first appears as a coral preview: Accept it, Tweak it, or Reject it.
- The Recipe (the small pill at the top left of the view): every change is a readable step, and you can click a number in a step to edit it.
- Parameters (the pill at the top right): sliders and values for the sizes that matter. The model updates live.
- Build · Make · History at the top, and ⌘K: Make checks printability and exports your files, History keeps every version, and ⌘K finds any command.
The tour never starts while the agent is working, for example when you just sent your idea from Home. It waits until the agent is done. It also leaves your panels as they are.
Show the tour again: profile menu → Help & support → Show the tour again, or ⌘K → Show the tour again. On Home or in a Thing it starts right away; anywhere else it takes you to Home.
3. Tips, once each
The first time you meet certain tools, a small card appears in a free corner of the screen. Each tip shows once, on any computer you use, and only one at a time, about a minute apart. A tip never shows while the agent is working, never covers the prompt bar or the conversation, and never takes the keyboard away from you. Press Esc or Got it to close it. If you leave it alone, it closes after a little while.
| When | The tip |
|---|---|
| The agent's first proposal | Look at the coral preview, then Accept it or Tweak it |
| The agent's first question | Your answers build the model as you go |
| You select a face or an edge | Now say "make this hole bigger", and right-click for the tools that fit |
| The first time in Make | The printability score, then open your file in your slicer or export it |
| The first time in History | Versions are saved for you, and Try an alternative is a safe way to experiment |
| A step fails (red in the Recipe) | Ask the agent to fix it, or undo with ⌘Z |
| The first time in Sketch mode | L line, D Smart Dimension, Enter finishes |
| The first time in Sculpt mode | G move, Tab points / edges / faces, Enter finishes |
| Your first picture in the prompt bar | Which pictures work best: a sketch with sizes, a drawing, or a photo with something for scale |
| Your first moving connection | Wiggle and Fit check |
| Your AI credits run low | Where more credits come from: feedback and Invite a friend |
Turn tips off: choose Turn tips off on any tip, or profile menu → Help & support → Turn tips off, or ⌘K → Turn tips off. The same places say Turn tips on to bring them back. Tips you already saw stay seen.
Good to know
- What you have seen is saved with your account, not in the browser, so the tour and the tips don't come back on another computer.
