Automatic versions: History that saves itself
Solid Vibes saves a version for you when you accept an AI change, before an export, a print or a share link, and at the end of a long editing session. What gets saved, when, and how to give one a name.
You don't have to remember to save a version before something important. Solid Vibes does it for you, so there is always a version to go back to.
When a version is saved for you
| Moment | Name in History |
|---|---|
| You accept an AI change | Named after the change, such as "AI: added a flat base" |
| You export a file | "Before export (STL)", with the format |
| You make sliced files or send to a printer | "Before printing" |
| You create a share link | "Before sharing a link" |
| You leave the editor after 15 minutes or more of editing | "End of an editing session" (at most once every 30 minutes) |
| You publish to the Marketplace | "Release v1.0" |
Nothing is saved when nothing changed since the latest version. Exporting the same design five times gives you one version, not five.
How they look in History
Automatic versions are lighter in the timeline, with an Automatic label and a small icon. The versions you saved and named yourself stand out, so the important moments are easy to find.
Every automatic version is a real version. It has Restore and Compare, like any other (see Versions and alternatives).
Give one a name
Want to keep an automatic version under a proper name? Right after it, use Save version and type a name. Nothing changed since, so the same design is kept as a named version.
You can still save a version yourself at any time. Automatic versions catch the moments you might forget.
Good to know
- Automatic versions work on every plan.
- In a read-only workspace nothing is saved automatically.
Try it
Make a small change, then export an STL. Open History: the newest version is called "Before export (STL)". Press Compare on the version before it to see what you changed.
